Rattan raw material

Once harvested, rattan begins a carefully controlled processing journey that determines the quality of the final product.

The freshly collected canes are first cleaned by hand, removing leaves, bark residues and impurities before being washed and naturally dried under the tropical sun. During this stage, the first quality selections are already made, separating the material according to strength, flexibility and intended use.

Some of the rattan is ready for immediate application after this initial processing. Softer and lighter varieties are ideal for weaving baskets, decorative items and other handcrafted products, while stronger and more resilient canes are selected for products that require greater durability and flexibility.

Every product demands its own unique characteristics, and with hundreds of rattan species available, the possibilities are virtually endless. Selecting the right material is therefore essential to achieving the desired quality, appearance and performance of the finished product.

The remaining material undergoes further grading and processing into high-quality semi-finished products, ready for manufacturers and craftsmen around the world.
